Just Some Facts

I'm going to throw some facts out at you and let you digest them. Please know that I am aware that I have primarily only included two racial/ethnic groups in this post. That is intentional on my part. If you would like a post with similar information regarding a different racial/ethnic group, I would be happy to do so at a later date. 

Government Assistance
Whites without a college degree (less than an associate's degree) are the largest racial/ethnic group recipients of government assistance programs.  
*40% of Medicaid recipients are white. In 20 states, over half of the recipients are white. 
*21% of Medicaid recipients are black. In Washington, D.C., and 2 states, Louisiana and Mississippi, over half of the recipients are black. 
*32.7% of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients are white. In 16 states, over half of the recipients are white.
*31.0% of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients are black. In 17 states, over half of the recipients are black.  
*34.9% of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients are white. In 21 states, over half of the recipients are white.
*25.7% of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients are black. In 7 states, over half of the recipients are black.  
*Nearly 50% of front-line fast-food workers, child care providers, and home care workers who work at least 26 weeks a year for at least 10 hours a week participate in some form of government assistance.
*Nearly 25% of part-time college faculty who work at least 26 weeks a year for at least 10 hours a week participate in some form of government assistance.

Violence
*48% of women who are Alaskan Natives or Native Americans experience intimate partner violence.
*47% of women who are multiple races experience intimate partner violence.
*45% of women who are black experience intimate partner violence.
*37% of women who are white experience intimate partner violence. 
*69.6% of crime victims are white.
*21.6% of crime victims are black. 
*53.9% of offenders are white.
*24.7% of offenders are black.
*24.7 per 1,000 whites are victims of violent crimes. When simple assault is excluded (63% of violent crimes are simple assault), 8.2 per 1,000 whites are victims of violent crimes.
*20.4 per 1,000 blacks are victims of violent crimes. When simple assault is excluded (63% of violent crimes are simple assault), 10.2 per 1,000 blacks are victims of violent crimes.

Educational Attainment
*Over 90% of Asians have a high school diploma or higher.
*Over 90% of whites have a high school diploma or higher.
*Over 90% of blacks have a high school diploma or higher.
*72% of Latinos have a high school diploma or higher.
*60% of Asians have a bachelor's degree or higher.
*38% of whites have a bachelor's degree or higher.
*27% of blacks have a bachelor's degree or higher.
*19% of Latinos have a bachelor's degree or higher.

Employment and Income
*39% of whites are employed in management, professional and related occupations. 
*29.5% of blacks are employed in management, professional and related occupations. 
*16.5% of whites are employed in service occupations.
*25% of blacks are employed in service occupations. 
*The median household income for whites in 2018 was $70,642.
*The median household income for blacks in 2018 was $41,361.
